Tracing Agricultural Land Transfer in China: Some Legal and Policy Issues

This paper traces the evolution of land tenure changes in contemporary China since 1949. The transfer from peasant households to family farms and commercial sized units is on a vast scale forms one greatest reforms we have ever seen. agrarian question both policy academic context which this legislative account assessed raises whether assembly resembles previous agricultural transformation processes industrialized countries or what extent it has special characteristics its own. security holding rural China, established with household responsibility system, seen mature slowly over three four periods adjustment, always protecting rights peasants while improving conditions for increasing productivity, resulting an extension two holdings new millennium. introduction third right, management right transferable outsiders, enabled huge movement affecting millions small holdings. process restructuring such questions as consequences capitalization agriculture, dispossession, proletarianization, prospect future market all topics further research.
